
Antony Johae (b. 1937, Chiswick, UK), gained his Ph.D. from the University of Essex in 1979: a comparative study of dream and symbolism in Dostoevsky and Kafka. He went on to teach literature in Ghana, Tunisia and Kuwait before retiring to Lebanon (his wife’s country of origin) and to Colchester in Essex.
He has published five poetry collections: Poems of the East (Gipping Press, 2015); After-Images: Homage to Éric Rohmer (Poetry Salzburg, 2019); Ex-Changes (The High Window, 2020); Home Poems (Orphean Press, 2022); and Foreign Forays: Poems of Travel in Europe and the Med (Mica Press, 2025)
Palewell Press will publish Antony's prose memoir, Lines on Lebanon, in the autumn of 2025.
