Kim Whysall-Hammond was born, raised and educated in London, but now lives on the edge of a small Berkshire market town. She started out as an astronomer, and ended up as an expert in obsolete Telecommunication protocols. Along the way she has worked on climate change models, developed messaging systems and run a large data networking team. All pursuits engendered by a love of Science Fiction and fuelled by a determination not to do anything deemed suitable for a ‘girl.’
A late-comer to publishing poetry, Kim started sharing poems on a Wordpress.com blog and gained a regular following. It was one such follower who encouraged her to send poems to journals and magazines. She has now been published in a variety of UK and USA venues both online and in print. These include Ink, Sweat and Tears, The Martello, Black Nore Review and Dreich as well as anthologies from Arachne Press and Palewell Press. In 2024, Palewell Press will publish her pamphlet collecion Messages from the Road.
Kim is an unashamed geek. As such, she also writes speculative poetry. Her speculative poem As Slow as Starlight won Third place in the 2023 Science Fiction Poetry Assoiation Dwarf Star awards.
