Together in the UK

Refugee Prose Hour

Monday 22 September 2025
18:00 to 19:00

TogetherInTheUK in partnership with Palewell Press and the Write to Life programme run by Freedom from Torture are hosting another of their fascinating webcasts featuring refugee writers. Join us to be moved, entertained and surprised by the voices of brilliant refugee writers based in the UK. This event is a celebration of resilience, hope, and the power of literature to connect us all; the rocket fuel of extraordinary, sometimes terrible experience, sheathed in the beauty of language. Book now for an unforgettable literary experience!

In the Refugee Prose Hour, you will hear readings from people writing refugee stories, and from refugees telling their own story or stories inspired by the refugee experience. TogetherintheUK will introduce the event: their first reading will be from the award-winning author Sita Brahmachari. Palewell Press will then introduce two readers: Nasrin Parvaz, reading from her essay in the anthology, So Many Unavoidable Journeys. Ahmed Zaidan, an Iraqi-Finnish refugee journalist, based in Finland will read from his book Mosul - Story of Hope. There will then be two readings from the Write to Life group at Freedom From Torture: Tanya Rupande and another TBC.

The event will last for an hour and is free to attend. To register for a Zoom link, click here
