In August 2021 the Taliban re-took control of Afghanistan introducing increasingly severe policies against women, restricting their rights and freedoms. Writing has become a lifeline for the women. Like the spring that bubbles forth into a fountain, poetry and memoir emerge from the dark underground of oppression, grief and longing. They need to be shared. This beautiful moving anthology, edited by Viv Fogel, sets out to do just that - enabling a group of courageous Afghan women to be heard.

Do join Palewell Press at Wood Green Central Library on Friday 30th October, 6:00 pm for a 6:30 start, for an evening of poetry and prose, refreshments, book sales, a short film and Q&A.
